sleep with a masterpiece: london`s national gallery and savoir beds embark on exclusive collaboration

Designboom- savoir beds and the national gallery in london have come up with a fun way of letting bed-buyers sleep with a work of art.

in an exclusive collaboration the pair are able to print any painting from the gallery’s collection on to velvet, linen viscose or cotton fabric and hand-upholster it onto a headboard for one of savoir’s bespoke luxury beds.

working closely with design and upholstery specialists, savoir beds‘ national gallery collection (which debuted earlier this year) promises that they can incorporate and customise any painting owned by the institution. the national gallery in london houses over 2300 pieces of art dating from the mid-13th century to the 1900s, showcasing paintings by the world’s greatest masters, including botticelli, leonardo da vinci, rembrandt, monet and van gogh.

once commissioned, the design is specially printed in the UK, by andrew martin, using the latest technology. finished with a bespoke plaque detailing the portrait and artist, every commission is personally approved by the national gallery to guarantee the design preserves the essence and integrity of one of the greatest art institutes in the world.
